I'm very new to Java. After I installed the Java SDK and clicked on the Forte for Java desktop icon the first time,
it asked me for a path that was to be my project default I think.

I gave it the wrong path. Now, I'm trying to change the project default. As far as I can figure, you go into the Project Settings. I see the FileSystems Settings node there, and under it are several nodes including two path settings. I don't want to go changing anything here until I'm sure it's right.

Can anyone explain to me how to do this?

just change it and see what happens, lets face it. If it goes wrong then just uninstall it and try again. no big deal.
