Hi, i started doing my layout and saved it in 6 (as default). Got it to another computer (which had 5 on it), obviously it wouldnt open. So i got it home, opened my file up, saved over it as a Quark 5 document.
Took it to that same computer, and it wouldnt open.
Can anyone help?

yeah its passport, 6.1. Ive already tried that, im afraid. Anymore ideas?

Why passport 6.1? Did you not want the free 6.5 update?

Ive tried all of the following previously. They didnt work. any more pointers?

Are you on 6.5.x yet? Bugs have been fixed in these patches. Maybe your issue has been resolved in the updates you are missing.

Quark.com - support - downloads - quark xpress updates

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

Ive just done it, i use PC so was abit more difficult to find.
DO you think this will solve the problem? Im gonna give it a go nonetheless and if it doesnt then ill just convert everything to EPS.

Oy. How does using a PC make this any more difficult to find on quark.com? Why are you asking if we think this will solve the problem?

What happens when you say it won't open???

Does it try, and error out, if so what's the error message?

Turn on any automatic font loading plugins like suitcase extension before opening it... a lot of the time it's simply due to a font trying to load.

Is it a mac or PC which holds Version 5?

Both machines are PC. The error message is "bad file format 70". Apparently it could be that the file didnt copy over properly, the copied file is 20mb smaller but i thought it was because i downgraded from Quark 6 to Quark 5.

I already done it without your advice. smart ass

When you insult others that try to help you, you seriously harm your chances of ever finding help on these forums again.

Have you tried doing it again? You might have just gotten a bad write when you saved as or put it on a cd or something. If you emailed it, the attachment could have been corrupted. A second save as might work better.

If you have images and stuff, one thing that sometimes works is to package the thing up. Open the doc from the package to make sure it works. If ok, save down to 5 from the packaged version, into the the package folder.
