Hello!
I am getting into the field of graphic design and am building my skill set. I am trying to achieve a “3D-like” image using Illustrator. An example of something using this principle is located at How do I go about recreating this type of logo with the light source/shadow configuration? How would I get the arc in “Alpine”? Is Illustrator the correct program to use or is there something else that would be better suited? I really appreciate any help I can get! Thank you!

Hi Adam

Illustrator is the perfect tool for that job. I wouldn't really call the logo 3D, but I understand what you're asking. You want to recreate that white>yellow background right? That is simply a Radial gradient. Just create any shape you like and use the gradient palette to create it's fill colour. White to Yellow Radial gradient. You may want to read the Gradient section of your help file.

That curve in Alpine will most likely need to be done manually. Just create your text then convert it to outlines (ctrl+shift+o). You can now tweak the shape of your text using the selection tools. Sorry but that may be a tough job if you haven't used Illustrator before.

Oh and by the way, thanks very much Alpine, for leaving New Zealand off the map, as always (Read>Sarcasm)
