My current server setup with IIS hosts a domain. However, as I need to run PHP and to avoid the limitation I've installed Apache. The problem is I can't now run either IIS or Apache.
Is there a conflict between IIS and Apache? How to solve this problem?

Well, only one application can be listening on a particular IP address and port. Are you trying to run both at once?

Although I applaud your decision to run Apache as I consider it much superior software to IIS, it wasn't necessary to install Apache. PHP runs with IIS, too. PHP will even run as an ISAPI filter under IIS.

Thanks ! Now I can run Apache as I pointed to port 80, next step is running ASP files but I heard that Apache can run ASP with perl scripts only, does that mean I can't use VBScript?

It depends on how much money you're willing to spend on the project.

If you're willing to blow $495US on software, you can buy and install Sun's Java System Active Server Pages. It can provide VBScript 5.5/ASP support to Apache.

Barring that, you can't run VBScript with Apache. As an alternative to VBScript, I recommend PHP.

As I said I pointed the port to 80. Now what I need to do is check IIS port and
to point it to another port in order to run ASP files on IIS.

Any suggestion !

Thanks in advance..

umm, where's the question?

'Now what I need to do is check IIS port and

Change the port then.
As long as you realise the webpages it serves will no longer be available using and instead you need to use

Where's the question?!

My question is: How do I check IIS port and
to point it to another port in order to run ASP files on IIS?

Rememeber that I still have Apache running at port 80.

Hope this clear now.

Where's the question? You had made a true statement, not asked a question. Possibly a language difference.

The answer is, under the properties of your web site, assuming Win2K. Right on the first page, on the "web site" tab, you can specify the IP address and ports that IIS uses.

Thanks lgarner I have changed the IIS port to 8080, but in fact I still can't run IIS.

What do think?

I really got red of Apache. All I need to do now is going back to IIS. I removed Apache and pointed IIS to 80, surprisly IIS dosen't work ! Do I need to re-install it or there's a way to fix it.

Thanks in advance.

At this juncture, I recommend you uninstall and reinstall IIS. Beyond that, as this is the Apache forum and you have stated that you aren't running Apache any more, I recommend that you post your queries to an IIS forum.
