Hi,
I'm losing it and need some help. I've got 2 Windows 2000 servers, lbs01 and lbs02, both in the same domain. I need to create a virtual directory in IIS on lbs01 that points to files on lbs02.
After reading a number of articles on how to do this, I created a new user called "IIS_Remote" that will be used to authenticate from lbs01 to lbs02. The articles all state that the user "should have sufficient privilages to access the content." However, they never say exactly wat those privilages are, read, write, what? No matter what I've tried I cannot get the IIS_Remote account to work. The icon in IIS will always have the red "error" sign next to it, and browsing to the share results in a request for authentication.
If I use the Administrator account everything works fine, but I obviously don't want to do that.
There is an error that shows up in the lbs01 event viewer:
Source: W3SVC
Event Id: 100
Desc:
"The server was unable to logon the Windows account 'IIS_Remote' due to...the user has not been granted the requested logon type"
What's the logon type? Local? Service?![[sadeyes] [sadeyes] [sadeyes]](/data/assets/smilies/sadeyes.gif)
It seems like this should be a really easy thing to do so I must be missing something really elementary. I know there must be a permissions issue here, but I'm not sure where it is; the IIS server? the file server? Do I need to edit local security policies?
I'm ready to jump out the window!![[bigsmile] [bigsmile] [bigsmile]](/data/assets/smilies/bigsmile.gif)
Thanks,
Andrew
