IIS stopped working 1

It was running this morning. Then just stopped. I'm not really sure where to start to debug this.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In the log file is the following:

Out-of-process+ISAPI+extension+request+failed.
Out-of-process+ISAPI+extension+has+exceeded+crash+limit.

The event viewer has this:

The server {3D14228D-FBE1-11D0-995D-00C04FD919C1} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

Also:

Out of process application '/LM/W3SVC/3/Root' terminated unexpectedly.

I had to remove and then install IIS. Which of course shut down my exchange system, so I had to reinstall it.

HI.

Have you checked the server for virusses?

Have you applied latest Service Pack, *AND* Latest SRP
(Security Rollup Package) on the server?

Just got this self same msg!

I reckon it's due to a corrupt COM component/registry setting (the registry entry for {3D14228D-FBE1-11D0-995D-00C04FD919C1} is missing) although how to fix this I have no idea, as yet

I found a solution someone had posted! It looks like IIS gets it's knickers in a twist in concern to the COM+ registration of out-of process apps!
