Greetings,
(I'm an IIS newbie, so ANY help, however insigificant you may consider it, is greatly appreciated.)
I just installed IIS on Win2000 Pro to run on my local machine yesterday and had no problems, and was able to view my *.ASP pages perfectly. However, upon next reboot, I could no longer view my *.ASP page. After checking the various Services listed below, I discovered the following:
-World Wide Web Publishing Service: has a status of 'starting' but never appears to 'start', although its set to autostart.
-Simple Mail Transport Proticol (SMTP): ditto...
-FTP Publishing Service: Started fine but cannot be stopped.
-IIS Admin Service: Started fine but cannot be stopped.
Any action taken to stop or restart any of the above services results in a '1053 Error: Service didn't respond in a timely manner, etc...'
To make matters worse, the Internet Services Manager doesn't respond to my double-clicks (neither does the target.)
If anyone can provide even a little guidance, it would be most appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.
