Hello

I am new to the IIS world.

I have created a website that uses asp and a DSN-less connection. Everything works fine on my local machine. However, when i upload to the server i get a page not found error when i try to iterrorgate the access database.

The only thing i think it can possibly be is the IIS settings on the server. However, i have no idea how to customise them to what i need ? Can anyone help ???

thankyou in advance

Does your connection string use a hard coded path?
Because the webroot on the server may not be on C: drive.

HI

Yes it is hard coded, but the webroot is on C: on our server

thanks

uncheck "Show friendly HTTP error messages" in IE

Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced
the actual error will tell you more than the generic "Something went wrong"

that could just about be the most useful bit of advice i have ever been given !!!

This is waht is says :

Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0131'

Disallowed Parent Path

/roadcraft_test/reports/studentsPlus.asp, line 2

The Include file '../Connections/LearningSite.asp' cannot contain '..' to indicate the parent directory.

Does this mean it is a permissions problem ?

nope it's a parent paths problem.

either you need to allow parent paths on your server (usually disabled because of security risks from directory traversal script attacks). or better still (safer) Don't use '../' in your code.

parent path config:

Site Properties -> Home Directory -> Configuration... -> App Options -> Enable Parent Paths

YES !!!!!!

It works - brilliant THANKYOU !!!!
