IIS Lockdown Tool

Hello All,
After I applied the IIS lock down tool I am no longer able to view my email using Outlook Web Access. The Outlook mail page loads but the mail never loads to view. I just see loading. I have read that the Lock Down tool turns off SMPT but Im not sure it thats it.

Anyine know what could be causing this?

Remember, When you apply the IIS Lockdown Tool, and choose the express lockdown option, all dynamic pages will be disabled. The OWA home page is an asp page, therefore execute permissions for the asp.dll have been denied.

Try to re-enable asp pages by uninstall the lockdown tool, and reinstall using the custom option. This time uncheck the asp option to keep from disabling it.

That should fix your problem, if all you've done is install the IIS Lockdown Tool.

Thanks for the reply Steve,
What I have done is install SUS(Software Update Services) onto my Win2k DC which is also my exchange server. SUS is working fine but when you install SUS it automatically install IIS lockdown. I did not get to choose the options for lonkdown. What would be your suggestions to fix this now?

Download the IIS Lockdown tool and run it again, this time it will let you choose options. You might want to try the template for exchange. DC, Exchange and SUS seems like alot to run on 1 server. I typically don't recommend running IIS on a Domain controller but I understand sometimes in a smaller environment you have to make do.

you can work around this even that i would never run a public iis without iis lockdown.

go to the policy you made. set rights to deny read for the machine. no more SUS on that machine.
