My server is constanly throwing error 404 Too many connections. I had establieshed that this error due to wrong version of IIS installed on my machine (ie. Win2k version oppose to Win2K Server).

How could I reinstall correct version, keeping in mind that windows retains previously install version when it is uninstalled through control pannel?

Your thoughts are much appreciated.

Chris, I appreciate your help.

First of all I need to correct myself, error is in fact 403.9, not 404.

Website is running on Win2K Server not Pro, however, it appears that I somehow installed IIS from Win2K Pro disk not Server - (beats me how I managed to do that).

My question is: how can I uninstall IIS Pro version on my server and reinstall with IIS Server when Windows retains previous intallation files on the HD and does not ask for a CD?

Chris, if only it was as simple as this.

In theory, Windows and Microsoft are suppose to make your life simple. In practice, it does not ask for a CD and that is why I am here :)

Unistalling IIS does not physicaly remove program from your HD, it simply removes shortcuts and stops services (disables it). If you tried to reistall it, it will rever to your previous intallation and will not ask for a CD.

Hmm! obviously it's not something I have ever needed to do.

Maybe someone at IIS Resources may know a trick or two without doing a complete reininstall.

Maybe deleting the meta-base would do the job.

Chris.
