IIS crashed after installing SP6a

hi everybody,

HAving NT server with SP6. IIS4 . Last night i tried to update service pack 6a on my server. Afetr updating SP6a and reboot My IIS service is not started. I have checked with event viewer

1.DCOM got error "The dependency service or group failed to start. " attempting to start the service IISADMIN with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{A9E69610-B80D-11D0-B9B9-00A0C922E750}

2.The IIS Admin Service service depends on the Protected Storage service which failed to start because of the following error:
The service has returned a service-specific error code.

3.The Protected Storage service terminated with service-specific error 2148270091.

These errors i got.

And when i tries too reinstall option Pack 4 i got the error
CoGetClasssObject 0x80080005 Server execution failed

After installation my IISAdmin service is not starting giving the same errors in the event viewer.

Any suggesions on this?

Did you shut IIS down before you applied the service pack?

You should try to stop all services before applying a patch to servers, although IIS is a stickler for things. I agree with comtec about stopping service for IIS, personally I shut down all services. When you reboot they start again anyway.

Yeah!! Before applying SP6a i stooped all the services.But i dont what is the relation between IIS and SP6a. Cause i have uninstalled SP6a nad then just re-applied the SP6 not SP6a. Then no problems my IISAdmin Service started and its working properly. Cause i hyave done lots of things before that.
1.I reinstalled the server that is Windows NT4
2. Then i Appled Service pack 3
3.Then internet Explorer 4
4.Then Optoin pack4 ....
5.Then Internet explorer 5.5
... After Applying IE 5.5 everything was fine . No errors nothing IIS is also working Fine.
6. Then I Stopped ALl the services related to IIS then i Applied Service Pack 6 not SP6a. After applying SP6 also everything worked fine. No harm to IIS.
So i though may be i have done a mistake last time. So Then I stopped all the ervices related to IIS & Then applied Service pack 6a and The same errors in the event viewer. & None of the IIS services started.

!!!! What I ahve done wrong in applying SP6a???

Then i uninstalled sp6a then reapplied sp6 everything is working fine.

But not understood the relation between SP6a and IIS 4
