I recently upgraded to WinXP Pro and IIS 5.0. Now my database applications run on my local machine will not update or add data. I get a message that says "Database or Object is read only". It worked before I switched to IIS 5.0, but it won't work now.

Somethings to look out for:

Ensure that the IIS user has modify permission on the system temp directory.

Also by default users are not permitted to access MS Access DB using DNS (This came through on a Microsoft update). To get around this you have to modify the registry secuirty, but for the life of me I carnt remember what it is. Maybe the Microsoft site has the answer (Yeah right).

Sorry about that.

Right-click the folder that the database resides in. Select <Properties> from the menu. Select the <Security> folder. Click <Add>. Double-click on the user: IUSR_YOURMACHINENAME. Click OK. Make sure that the IUSR_YourMachineName is highlighted. Make sure that READ and WRITE are CHECKED. Click <Apply>. You're done.

ok that didn't fix it, it's possible that i need to create a new database and copy the information over to it.
