A co-worker is able to execute a component method within his site using IIS 5.0 on his workstation. This component dll is registered and resides on his PC. When someone else on any other PC goes to his site, they get a 'Permission denied' error when the method execution is attempted. What does he need to do to allow them access? He says he's tried almost every combination of things to try. Thanks.

This is most likely an NTFS file permission issue. Make sure the annoymous account IUSER_MACHINENAME has read and execute rights to the .dll in question.

Almost anytime someone can make it work locally on a PC or server but a remote visiter is having permission denied errors the problem is NTFS permissions. If the package is in MTS/COM+, make sure the security settings deifne system and not interactive user.

If niether of these solutions apply to you, more information is required. Great tools for troublshooting permissions can be found at sysinternals.com Look for FILEMON and REGMON when troubleshooting file and registry permissions.

Hey Raymond,
Thanks a lot. I just changed it to what you suggested. I set the anoymous account IUSER_MACHINENAME to have read and execute rights.

It works absolutely fine.
