Does anyone know of a simple program to test a multicast routing configuration? I want to set up a lab to play with multicast but I can't think of anything simple to run on the clients and server.

I tripped over that earlier but I didn't know if it just simulated multicast or actually used it. I'll order a copy too, I think its free.

Grats on your CCIE, that's what I'm working on now. Took a try at the written and almost passed (missed by 8). I expected a large amount of certain questions and instead got blindsided by a more than fair share of stuff I didn't study as hard.

Thanks Tom. I was fortunate enough to pass the CCIE written exam last year (Feb, 2002), long before MPLS and a bunch of other stuffs were added. But, there's no escape. I will have to recertify and retake the exam (with all the bells and whistles) when my CCIE expires in less than 2 years.

Going back to the subject, I'm about 99% sure that the demo CD uses actual multicasts to transmit video over your intranet. When I took up the Deploying Quality of Service (DQoS) class for my CIPT specialization, I believe the instructor used the same software to demonstrate the effects of QoS. In this case, its effect on multicast traffic. Orlando Palomar Jr
