I had a network printer problem that required a reboot of the system. Up to this point everything worked fine. Prior to Windows 98 startup, error messages indicated that the following files were missing: ndis.vsd, ndis2sup.vxd and msmouse.vxd. Once I hit any key to continue, it goes thru the 98 startup okay, but following login to the network, an error message appears ienpstub.dll not found.
I am unable to print to the network plotter.
I found a copy of the ienpstub.dll file on my pc and copied it the the windows\system subdirectory, but no change. I attempted to delete this dll after copying it, but the message `access denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and the file is not currently in use'.
All other aspects of my network works fine.

Thanks for the response. I went through all the device connections and could find no conflict.

Try this:

Go to Start --> Run --> and then type:

"REGSVR32.EXE ienpstub.dll" (without the quotes) and then reboot and see if you get the same error.

Good luck!

Thanks, edemiere,
I tried that and got the following respons:
"ienpstub.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. DllRegisterServer may not be exported, or a corrupt version of ienpstub.dll may be in memory. Consider using PView to detect and remove."

I can not locate PView on my PC.

Try booting up in safemode first? That way the system will not have attempted to load it in memory, as you may be trying to register after the system has attempted to load it into memory.

Give that a try and lemme know!

Good luck!

Thanks, edemiere,

I tried it in safemode as well and got the same message as before:

"ienpstub.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. DllRegisterServer may not be exported, or a corrupt version of ienpstub.dll may be in memory. Consider using PView to detect and remove."

Ok, next I would find this file (located in a .cab file in the CD-ROM for Windows 98 under the \win98 directory).

Once you locate the file extract it manually to a floppy, reboot and boot to "Command Prompt Only" (you can get this by hitting F8 at boot time when it beeps). Then copy it off the floppy to the c:\windows\system directory. (assuming you have installed windows on the C Drive)

It would look something like the following:

C:\>a:

A:\>copy *.dll c:\windows\system

ienpstub.dll exists, overwrite? (Y/N) Y

1 file(s) copied

C:\>

Then just give it the three-finger salute (CTRL+ALT+DELETE) and load up Windows and if you get the error, try registering it again, if you don't get the error on startup then it might be working and you should try to print.

Keep me posted. :)

Cheers!

Thanks edemiere,

I tried this and got the same message upon registering it:

"ienpstub.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. DllRegisterServer may not be exported, or a corrupt version of ienpstub.dll may be in memory. Consider using PView to detect and remove."
