I'm running IE6 in WinNT4 Workstation and I'm having a problem when browsing the web. Every so often when I'm loading a new page the browser suddenly shuts down for no reason. This occurs when I either type an address in or even just click on a link. The browser just closes!

Has anyone else experienced this problem or know what might be causing this?

Chris.

Hi Chris

Could this be something to do with either security or privacy. If you look at INTERNET OPTIONS and select DEFAULT on everything, do you still have the problem?

Event viewer might give you a clue...I ran across a page last week that didn't like ZAP...and blue-screened me!

I've checked all the IE settings and nothing appears in the event viewer when it happens.

Any other ideas?

Chris.

Check for a virus.
Shut down all programs, except Explorer and Systray.
Make sure the network card(if one exists) is securely seated in its slot, and it has no problems in Dev. Mgr. While in DM, also make sure the card is not sharing an IRQ.
If you're using dial-up, and the ISP connection also go South, then its a problem with the ISP.
If it's cable, DSL, satellite, etc., try repairing IE with its repair tool.
If no luck, uninstall and reinstall IE.
