I have this option set in IE options but it does not happen.

This option specifies whether to clear the Temporary Internet Files folder when you close the browser, it does not clear Cookies or History items.

Check this link out for the actual Registry setting and see if that is being set.

Do you have any security type programs that are preventing your settings from being applied?

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

The registry entry alluded too in the link you provided is set correctly, however the folder in not emptying when the browser is closed.

And the other two suggestions?

Can you manually delete the contents of the folder with other IE options?

If you care to delete the actual Temporary Internet folder, Windows will replace it with a new one. That may be have to be done as another Administrator user.

You can reinstall IE in Windows XP by clicking Start, Run and entering the following command:

rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 c:\windows\inf\ie.inf

(where c: is your Windows drive).

You will need to have your XP CD available. If you re-install remember to update it.

Using SFC /Scannow at the command prompt will help in repairing IE.
