i have encounter a small problem. when a program updates a sys file during the install it puts it somewhere in the registry and the makes u reboot. it then does the work during startup. Ocassionally this information is not removed. not really affecting the performance of the computer, but MS IE 5.5 thinks its smart and aborts installation if there is stuff there. I REALLY need ie installed on this computer to allow stuff to run. Please help or point me in a new direction. thanks Karl Pietri

Programs that startup via registry are found here.

HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\CURRENTVERSION\RUN

and

HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\CURRENTVERSION\RUN SERVICES

no it is not there you know when you start the os during the "starting windows 9x" screen it says updating configuration files.....

done continuing to load windows.

where ever it gets that information from is where i need to get at.

the run runonce and runservices and runservicesonce are loaded MUCH later in the bootup Karl Pietri
