Is it possible for a site to appear in your history without you having visited it? I seem to be getting a few anomalies.

Thanks,
Chris.

Chris,

I've not heard of History items appearing without actually loading. What are these "anomalies" like??

I have never seen it before either but I did notice a large amount of odd pages in my cache before and finally narrowed them down to those rediculous popups that appear on sites that spam you with that garbage (free web hosting sites, etc.).

Usually you kill the windows without looking at them but your cache remembers them. » » » » » »

Yes it can be done via a program written to interface to IE. I'm not sure why anyone would want to do this since there's nothing to be gained! Check what programs are running on your box (maybe you downloaded a program) it might be visiting sites of its own. As I say an interesting program to write but I can't see why anyone would do this (except perhaps to get you into trouble at the office with an audit!)
