Hey, anyone know how to stop IE auto saving to a temp folder when trying to download. I think i clicked the option by mistake just dont know how to fix it.

Thanks

I think you mean when you have downloaded a file, and try to use the unzip routine?

Just edit the default directory path before hitting Unzip.

Otherwise, the download routine for most files should be a two-step process. On the second step you can use the iconic symbols at the top to move the directory path.

When i click a download it auto saves, no option to select where to save or rename.
It says saving to a temp tolder then after its done winzip opens.

thank you.

It is a Winzip setting. You have it set to grab any file with a .zip extension.

You need to set it to prompt you for how to handle the file. This is a Winzip setting, not an IE one.

ah no, its not a winzip problem asit happens with exe's also and any other file type.

Under IE, Tools, Internet Options, click on the Internet icon, Custom, advanced options, move some of the downlaod options from low to medium.

Linney,

Hope you nailed it. I just cannot duplicate the problem. It can see the confusion over .zip and self-extracting .exe files, but not a general problem.

Will look at your links and try to figure out how the default behavior could have been changed.

Best.

That sort of fixes it but it does not have the option for exe's

dcastner click something to download and check the options if i remember tight there is a option to let it auto download to a temp folder not sure though as the last time this happend to me was when i used windows 2000.
