I'm not sure what's going on - but suddenly I've got a bunch of issues on my PC (running XP Pro) all connection related.
When I open a web page - most of the time I get an error "This page cannot be displayed". About 1 out of every 4 times it will display properly. Usually, if I hit 'refresh' enough times - it works.

I use Lotus Notes for email - and suddenly am getting an error "The TCP/IP protocol stack reported that it ran out of memory." when I try to send message. If I keep trying - eventually it works.

I'm assuming both of these problems are related since last week all was fine...

Thanks for any advice!
Amber

with something like that, the first thing that comes to mind is MALWARE related...

so with that in mind, I would run a full scan with your build in AV...

then download MBAM, and after installing, run a QUICK scan first, delete anything it finds, then do a FULL scan...

if MBAM does not install, then download it on a second PC, then rename the EXE file to something along the lines of TEST or TART (e.g. TART.EXE), then transfer it to the affected PC...

report back...

Sorry - should have said - I've run a full virus scan (with McAfee), and installed and ran CCleaner, SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes.
All came up with some stuff, and cleaned it, but this hasn't resolved my issues...

Thanks,
Amber

OK, glad to hear that you already done your homework (malware scan)...

now I would continue with a winsock reset, open up a CMD window (START - RUN - CMD <ENTER>), there type the following command:

netsh winsock reset catalog

reboot the PC, and try it then...

if that does not work then go to the Network Connections, and double click the NETWORK card, then to the TCP/IP section, uninstall the TCP/IP protocols, reboot and reinstall them...

Have you tried Cleaning out your Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, History, etc. Maybe you are having a problem with a corrupted Index.dat file?

"Dealing with a corrupt Cache

In many cases when you have trouble accessing a site, pages don't load properly - such as when you click Refresh (F5) then the page loads, this indicates a corrupt cache. Either a corrupt folder or the hidden "index.dat" is damaged. The problem arises when you use the "Windows Method" (above) this does not in many cases repair a corrupt cache folder or does not resize the index.dat. It continues to grow and grow in size".

Safely Delete the Temporary Internet Files

Can you reproduce the problem via "Safe Mode with Networking", or in Normal Mode but with another user?
