IDU-ing an M3904 set

My manager recently replaced his black M3904 set with a black Phase III phone that has a sticker on the back with the part # NTMN34GA. When I do an IDU of his TN the part # that comes up is NTMN03EA. How does the part # update in the PBX? And if the phone is black why does the sticker on his new phone show a 34 instead of an 03? I appreciate your help. Thank you.

the part number doesn't update, the switch gets the info from the firmware of the phone, my guess is that at one time the motherboard was in another phone
