Idle timer on telnet session

Hi,

I have a problem with a telnet session to a non-standard port (259 instead of 23).

I need to make a telnet connection on port 259 to a specific IP address. I have to log on and after that I start a Citrix client which connects to another IP address.
During the time the Citrix client is active, the telnet session to port 259 needs to stay active even though there is no data transfer (thus an idle port) otherwise the Citrix connection is dropped as well.

After about 5 minutes the telnet session is dropped. Most likely because of an idle timer, maybe in our ISA server or at our provider or maybe both.

However, when I start a telnet session to a provider on the default port 23, I log on and do nothing, the port stays open so in this case the idle timer is not activated.

Can this be an ISA server problem where the idle timer is only actived when using a non-standard port and if so, is there a way to disable this ?
Personally I think it's a setting in the providers firewall but I need to be sure it isn't an ISA problem at the same time.

Anyone got an idea ?

Thanks,

Richard
