I do not have any programming data on an old Norstar switch. How can I match the phone number to the system line number?

under maintenance if u look for port/dn status and scroll thru that'll give u a listing

Yep the telco number. I have 12 phone numbers on our bill and the phone switch identifies them as line 001 - 012, but I don't know which phone number line 001 represents.

Dial your cell phone from the lines.
Look at the caller ID.

go to each line and call a cellphone (or any other phone )with caller id .

line 1 call your cell phone , look at the display call coming from xxx-xxx-xxxx

If your in New York, just get on the line and dial 958. A recording will give you the number. dial an extra 9 for centrix lines. Upstate New York uses 990 for line ID.

if your in Pa. dial 311 for line identification. for ATT lines dial 1-888-902-9998.

off course that only works if the lines are with the lec , clec s are all diffrent.

CID dosnt matter who the lines with

I do like the att one Ill keep that for when I dont have cell service.

your number dosnt work in SW fl (we were in N america last ime I checked )

and just to nit pick, ANI and CPN (calling party number/callerID) are not the same thing. Most ANAC numbers based on a toll-free number will give you ANI and not CPN.

picky picky picky. I didn't say it was perfect. But its a great tool to have when you don't know the carrier. and skip it was a friend in orlando who gave me this test center number.

should have put a ;-) with my last post

I just tried again and got "where sorry the number you have dialed can not be reached from your calling area " orlando is sprint we have verizon but like you sayu it shouldnt make a diffrence.

bigcats number did work for me though ...

I use 800-444-4444 this is an MCI number and it tells you the number your calling from.

Another trick you can use is to access the RAD and add as many lines to the set as you want and then dial yourself and get CLID. If you need more buttons, chg the RAD to a 7324 for the programming session.
That way you do not need to go on site.
