Id like to Hide certain drives from Certain users on my machine

How?

I have looked at gpedit.msc but that takes effect of the whole machine...

I dont want to use NTFS and just restrict...

thanks

You can do this yourself in the registry. The important thing to remember is to use the registry hive HKEY_Current_User and not the hive HKEY_Local_Machine.

There are two differing ways to accomplish the task as well. You can hide the drives, or you can prevent access to their contents. Log in as Administrator and temporarily give a restricted user Admin rights. Logon as the restricted user and make the registry change to HKEY_Current_User. Login as Administrator and reset the logon type for the restricted user.

Hide Drive letters by User:

Prevent Access to Drives by User:

forget the registry.... go to START, RUN, and type in 'gpedit.msc' without the quotation marks. you can screww your ssytem down as tight as you like

But not for certain users as the original poster requested.

Thanks bcastner,

Thats what I was looking for... :) I did apply the registry changes not long after you posted sorry should of replied faster on here...

Nigeldk, gpedit is only worth while if you dont want to use the machine yourself...

Thanks again :)
