I am looking to install a plastic ID card system for a club with about 900 members.

Looking around, there seems to a be a plethora of printers and ID card systems available.

Anyone have any experience with these things and what are the traps and pitfalls to avoid, if any?

Cheers,

We use an Eltron P310 Card Printer for this type of work.
It came with some (rather dated) software called "WindCard" but seems to keep working. It's also quite easy to work with in Visual Basic.
It does (however) require a certain knack to working with as initial installation can be tricky and the ribbons / cards are prone to jams etc.
On the whole when it's working it works well - a colleague did a run of 200 cards the other day (printed on both sides, so 400 prints). When it's not... it goes for repair.

Thanks for that.

Come to think of it, I do remember using a Eltron P something in a previous life. That was a few years ago now, and I remember it gave very little trouble.
