Does anyone know how to setup ICS on a Windows XP Pro Machine? I followed the instructions from Microsoft, but it still isn't working. Thanks

Brad

smah's link to Steve Winograd's site is an excellent one. But some assumptions are made that might be confusing. If this is bring coals to Newcastle please ignore the advice:

1. Two physical NICs in the host machine
2. Cross-over cables between the host and the next machine
3. Client for Microsoft Networking installed, all machines
4. File and Printer Sharing installed, and a share of something, all machines
5. Absolutely identical names for the workgroup, all machines
6. Absolutely different computer names, all machines
7. All machines, adapter, TCP/IP Properties, obtain an IP address automaticly; the hit the "Advanced" button, WINS tab, and un-select LMHOSTS and pointedly select "Enable Netbios over TCP/IP" radio button.
8. For XP clients, add all potential users and passwords as new local users, and/or enable the Guest account in Control Panel, Users and Groups.

Be certain you spend a little time exploring the site that smah linked. There is a great deal of information there, but you need to Click the topmost address bar for Troubleshooting and other options.

Thanks. I dont think it will work on my network. I have a DSL connection with 5 static IPS. The office has 10 XP machines and they all need access to the Internet. My DSL router can not be configured for NAT. Can you think of any solutions? Thanks

I am by no means an expert but I would would not do ICS with a setup like you have. I would connect the router to a switch and connect all the machines to the switch as well. That would eliminate the need for the 2nd nic in the main machine as well as the crossover cable. You could set all machines up for sharing as well.
