ICS Error, refresh loads page, queer error

Hey,

I have 3 XP pro machines, THe main computer has Broadband Cable and i have to other machines which dont have an internet connection

I ran the main computer as a host and the 2 other computers as Clients

When Accessing the net from the host, works fine, but from the clients, an error comes up, but on refresh, the weird thing is it will load anyway, the unloaded screen mentions "DNS", if this is the problem can someone help, if not, PLLLZZZ can someone explain as this is VERY irritating, Thanks In advance

First, make sure that the Gateway entry, and the sole DNS entry for the clients (not Host) is 192.168.0.1 in both cases.

Second, you might want to shorten the amount of time a DNS query is resolved from the local cache of each workstation.

Start, run, regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\DnsCache\Parameters
Add a new DWORD key:
NegativeCacheTime
With a decimal value of 60.

So, i Make the default gateway and the DNS server BOTH 192.68.0.1

If your using ICS, just set the clients to obtain an ip address automatically. ICS runs a mini dhcp client which will give them the correct information.

No, the main problem is not setting it up, its just that when i open the browser it comes up with cannot find server. then on a couple of refreshes it will find it, does n e ones have ANY solutions???

Sounds like its not picking up the DNS properly, have you manaully set the DNS on the host machine to your ISP dns?
