Hello,

Fairly new to the industry, currently studying for the MCSA. The lab on the 70-291 requires enabling ICS. The ICS checkbox was present on both network adapters prior to my adding DC and DNS server roles on my test 2003 server. The server is now a DC and a DNS server but the ICS checkbox is now missing.I'm running windows2003 server as a guest OS on VMware GSX. I've verified the following based on reading other message boards.

-I have two network adapters present
-I am not bridging
-I have Windows firewall disabled

Has anyone here encountered the same problem? If so would you be able to point me to the right direction?? THANKS!!

You should also heed the following paragraph from:

IMPORTANT: You should not use this feature on a computer running DNS server or DHCP server or a Windows domain controller. When you enable ICS, the network adapter connected to the home or small office network is given a new static IP address configuration. Existing TCP/IP connections on the CS computer are lost and need to be re-established.

tfg13,

Thank you very much for the link...the hot fix worked like a champ. Now, I can move on to the rest of the chapter. I was losing sleep over this. Again, thanks for the help, you're a life saver.
