ics and dhcp

Hi guys i think i already know the answer but since im new here and at this game i thought i would pose the question to all you brain boxes!!!!

i have a cable modem connected to a win2000 machine i have another nunber of machines which are ICS and are on a workgroup.

i wish to connect my machines to a 2000 server and be able to surf the net collect Email. i have installed DHCP on the 2000 server and as the books say dont have ICS/DHCP together. How do i get the server to use the cable connection on the win 2000 client without droping the DHCP???? is there any software out there that will help me.......

You're a little fuzzy on what you mean by using dhcp. You have dhcp clients and a dhcp server providing the service. With ICS, you can have dhcp clients and the computer with ICS will act as the server. You can't have another dhcp server with ICS. You can, however, use a dhcp server with NAT services (network address translation) on the server. 2000 pro doesn't have the capability to provide NAT; only ICS. The 2000 server does have the capability to provide NAT through Remote Routing and access (RRAS) as well as ICS. Someone left a really good tip on here how to set it up not long ago.
