Hi

Have been using Novell 5 UIMPORT utility to create users etc, but am now trying to use the ICE utility in Novell 6
but no luck, has any body got any sample files so that I can
check the syntax to create users and directorys, any help would be appreciated

I would suggest filling in the information you want to use on your user accounts then doing an export to get your syntax. I believe most of this can be done through C1, but it may be NWAdmin...I can't recall.

Also, you need to remember that if you're doing an LDAP import in NW6, you're not going to be able to use it to create Home Directories. There are two companies I know of that make utilities for this and we all think Novell stinks for not supplying us with a utility to do this (since they took away UIMPORT). By the way, UIMPORT will work with 6, but you won't have all the fields you have with C1. Try checking (about $650 or so)and do a search on google for the words, "NOVELL FILE FACTORY"($3500 or so) and see if you get any hits. Good luck. Importing users is a task on NW6 until you get a system to do so.

if you have groupwise installed, you can use GroupWise import/export utility in a very similar way to UIMPORT except it's far easier!

oops - meant to add that it won't create directories though. however manipulate your gw export/import file in excel and you can relatively easily create a batch file to create your directories and assign file rights.
