I recently aquired an IBM Network Printer 12. Although it prints just fine, it does make a high pitch sound briefly before the page starts coming out.

Is there a quick fix, or is major repair needed?

Thanks

I used to be a printer hardware tech. Most high pitched sounds where caused by dry bushings or shaft grounding plates that lost thier grease. Also if the feed/pickup rollers get hard. bad lasers, cleaning blade... This is the short list.

There is not enough information about your squeek to decide if it is major or not.

If it is happening at the very beggining of paper pickup then check the pick up rooler and page seperation device. if it is just before the page comes out of the printer check the fixing and delivery assy. It could just be dried grease.

good luck,
