I have 5 IBM Netvista A40 personal pc's; 4 at the office & 1 at home.
3 (2 office/1 home) have become unstable over past 4 weeks. Machines would lock up immediately following W2K splash or login. Antivirus is updated, machines are clean. No new software or hardware installs.
I ran the F11 system restore (partial and full) on two machines. This resulted in a constant cycle to reboot following W2K login.
Tried safemodes, installing fresh OS from W2K CD, etc.
System diagnostics all show all is OK - nothing in Event log.
I'm at a loss.
I went to IBM's Netvista forum. One user posted a note with the EXACT problem - their reply was that it must be a hardware failure. I don't buy it !!!. The home pc was completely a stand-alone. Other than the same model and same problem - The only similarity is that all have received all MS updates.
Any suggestions ???
