I'm getting ready to deploy some I2050's for remote users. Any best practice for E911 setup ideas?

we currently have E911 set up with ESA locations and dynamic elans. It works really well!

With the deployment of softphones and the ability of the user to constantly move there isn't a way to assign a ESA location.

Maybe a cell phone or home number of the user?

Any other ideas of maybe 3rd party software

You are off to a good start! To autromatically put phones into an ERL, you will need an internal or external discovery manager. The internal LIS will segregate phones by their IP address and adjust the ERL setting, external LIS watch for new set registrations and then locate the device onthe network. Of course being able to see and poll the data switch is a requirement. If your users are at their home, then you could create a new ERL for their home with a hard coded EELIN of their home phone number. Do not use their cell number! The PSAP will not be able to retrieve a cuurrent location record of the cell phone if it did not make the 911 call. All of that happens in near real-time. Also the location discovery capability of cell phones is not sufficient indoors in many cases.

Best of luck!
