i found this on the nortel website ... NORT160015

a. IP phone 2004 (formerly known as i2004) Phase 0 phones - old, original phones

NTEX00BA: IP Phone 2004 (Ethergray) with North American power supply.
NTEX00BB: IP Phone 2004 (Ethergray) no power supply.
NT7B10AACH: IP Phone 2004 (Ethergray) with North American power supply (FW Rls 1.0).

These are the original IP phone 2004s which did not have an integrated 3 port switch to support a co-located PC. They will work with BS460 and PowerDsine Power over LAN hub, and require a splitter (DY4311015) to strip the power off the LAN, and feeds it into the barrel jack on the back of the phone. They will also work with the BS 460, BS5520-PWR and PP8300-PWR with a different splitter (DY4311046*) that will be released in early 2004.

b. Phase 1 phones - current phone

The Phase 1 IP Phone 2004 and IP Phone 2002 (formerly known as i2002) are still based on the Nortel Networks design, but an integrated switch circuit has been added to the design, so that the phones support a co-located PC. Use of the external Internet Telephone Switch Module is not required with Phase 1 IP Phones. These phones are not 802.3af compliant, but can be used with the Nortel Networks switches (BS 460, BS 5520 or PP 8300) or with the Power over LAN hub, using a splitter. The same splitter (DY4311015) as used with Phase 0 IP phones is used to power Phase 1 i200x phones from the BayStack 460 or PowerDsine Power over LAN Hub. The Phase 1 IP sets will also work with the BS 460, BS5520-PWR and PP8300-PWR with a different splitter (DY4311046*) that will be released in early 2004.

An additional splitter, the Universal splitter (PDPS800), can be used with the IP Phone 200x Phase 1 phones to allow interworking with any 802.3af compliant Ethernet switch gear. It also allows interworking with Cisco proprietary power.
