I WANT TO INSTALL AN GB HD SAMSUNG ON MY PRESARIO 4712

i want to activate the LBA on my new 10gb HD SAMSUNG, i dont know if my presario 4712 is compatible with my HD, or else...
i can't configure the bios, i press f10 but it doesn'y work how can i do it????

first thing would be to update your BIOS version...You can downlod that from compaq.com...The next thing would be if you cannot access the setup through the F10 key you will also need to download that as well...I dont know what speed your CPU is for this model..but if it's lower then a P90MHZ you will not be able to setup all 10Gb without some kind of third party software...God I cant even remember the name it's been that long...But I have been working on compaqs for about 5 years and can tell you that they are very very picky. Just check there web site it will tell you everything you need to know..

Well, i would say to contact compaq tech support, but i've dealt with them, and they dont seem to be very helpful. Never the less, you may wanna try to call them and ask how to get into the bios. If its an older computer, you will probably run into the issue where you can only use, i think 8.5, dont quote me on that, gig of the drive unless you install some kind of overlay software, sometimes provided with the drive. As far as not getting into the BIOS, does it give you a message or anything after you press F10? or does it basically just ignore ya? It is possible just to clear the bios via a jumper, its probably detailed exactly how in your manual. If you still have it.
