Hello friends,
I have a domain server with a modem. I want my marketing professionals to dial-in the server and access their respective folders from their home. They should not be able to access any other folder. I would also want to know if they would be able to dial-in simultaneously and does 2000 recognise multiple incoming calls. I wish someone out there could guide me in this.. thanx in advance!

If you want to accept incoming calls from remote users, you will need to install and configure RRAS.

After installation is complete, run the configuration wizard and choose Remote Access Server.

After configuration is complete you will need to grant dial-in permissions to the user accounts that you wish to allow to dial-in to your Server. (Do this on the properties page of the user, on the Dial-in tab).

Users can only connect to a Win2K RRAS server if a remote access policy permitts them to do so. Therfore, you can use Remote Access Policies to control access to the RRAS server. The default remote access policy permits any remote user that is allowed the dial-in remote access permission to connect to the RRAS server.

You could also enable remote communication via a VPN through the Internet if both your server and your client computer can establish a connection to the Internet.

Hope this helps a little...[ponytails2]

If you only have 1 modem then you can only have 1 connection at a time. Your best bet would be to set up a VPN as GrnEyedLdy suggested.

i WAS wondering about the same question, what if i dont want to use VPNs. THere must be some kind of device (MUX)that can handle multiple calls with only one line and only one device.
Just like the office phone, if you receive a call while talking on the phone, then you can put on hold the conversation, and attend the other call, and switch back whenever you need.Something like a modem multiplexor or concentrator might do the same thing..(i guess), by balancing the bandwitdh between each call
Does anybody knows about it? A+, MCP, CCNA

Keep fighting for your knowledge!

Thanks everyone, it seems in this old age, i got to study a lot more technical stuffs. Thanks guys.. you all have been a gr8 help.
For VPN would i be required to connect my server full time to my isp. That will leave a mighty telephone bill.
thank,
