Yep , I actually screwed up quite carelessly this time (something I dont normally do, especially what I'm about to mention) , we have an old Pmmx 233 machine, Socket7 of course, my employer wants to sell it to his sis-in-law, I mentioned, that you could buy a new chip very cheap (mentioned a AMD K6-2/450 specifically) and just sell it for a higher price, well the cpu doesnt arrive til tomarrow, but I found some old boxes in the backroom, with the manuals to the specific motherboards in question.

and to my surprise neither motherboard have any jumper specs for intel/amd cpus beyound 266mhtz also turns out both boards (I'm comparing boards of all the ones we wanting to sell and was hopping one of them was compatible) are 66FSB, both are using Simm memory (72 pin) but one of them has availible SDram dimms, in any case, I Screwed up, I havent told them yet ( they havent come in yet ) , I intend to make up for my mistake by purchasing a new board for them.

The only question is, what is a good decent board, Socket 7, within my budget, that supports an AMD K6-2/450 , and 72pin memory (board currently uses 128M[4x32Megs])

Does not have to have AGP, or audio (already have the cards in existing machine)

I was thinking about getting this one

only thing is, if I get this one then I need to get
-A microATX case with ATX Power supply
-And 168pin SDram PC100 (least it's only 14$ for 128Meg now)

Any sugestions folks?

Hi. You indeed do have a problem. Most motherboard manufacturers don't include video or sound, so you WILL need to get one of each card, there's no way around it unless you can find out who the mb manufacturer is. It will also be obvious because there will be openings in the back for the ports that existed on the old mb. What's more is that I don't think you're going to find that there are any mb's supporting that speed that will use SIMMs, though I may be wrong there. If you state who made the mb or computer maybe someone could be of more assistance. I'd just own up to it, easier. Don Swayser

if you read the specs for the board I have in the URL (one that I was going to purchase) you will see that it has onboard video and audio, thought I think what you said about the rams was true, I did find one with both, but other parts were missing.

in any case, this is no longer a problem, they just told me to hold onto the chip for future use, since it is faster than our office's standard workstations.
