I receive this error - ERROR_PPP_NO_PROTOCOLS_CONFIGURED 1

Hello,

I'm having an issue with an old PC. It has Windows 98 and I have been connecting to the internet by modem dial-up using Earthlink and AOL. However, all of the sudden I have a problem that has me stumped. When I try to connect to the internet using either of the ISPs, the modem places the call and I hear the ISP pick up but then it just hangs for a little bit and I recieve the following error:
ERROR_PPP_NO_PROTOCOLS_CONFIGURED

And I cannot connect to either of the ISPs.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Earthlink and AOL, my modem and it's drivers and I'm still receiving this error. It's kind of curious since everything was working fine and I don't remember changing any of my modem settings. If anyone can provide any help I would greatly appreciate it.

Try this (not sure if I'm on the money, been a while, but...):

Open up Dial-Up Networking, right click your connection, Properties. Server Types tab, in the Type of Dial-up Server drop-down box choose PPP
In the Allowed network protocols make sure NetBEUI and IPX/SPX Compatible check boxes are not selected and select only the TCP/IP check box

You need to go into the
Control Panel, open Network, and make sure that there's a TCP/IP attached to the PPP "adapter".
This errors can be hard to trouble shoot.....
