I did it agian.. ."Yes I can add a barcode to the database..." Im not sure if that was my first mistake or my second.. I have read up on it... from what I can tell I want to use a wedge scanner and "simulate keystrokes.." 1st question can a hyphen be coded in a barcode? 2nd question do I need to copy the font into each computer? is there one built into acces? or can I distribuite it somehoe easely? (machines are win 2000 or win XP)

thanks

1) depend on the code used: 2of5 is purely numeric, code128 or 3of9 allow text.
2) yes, no, search the web for free font.

Hope This Helps, PH.

Thanks PH, god to know there is free font...

I will have to use code128 or 3of9 because I also need to use letters... is one better then the other?

is there a way to distribute the font to the correct directory with access? (I have a client install .bat I created so If I have too I can distribute that way)

I beleive I found an answer to my problems.... The only thing I would add is that you have to manually add the file to the table before trying to use it this way in the database... do in the case of my font I added a 3of9.ttf to the table (and checked the register font) and then when it opened it loaded the font as an ole object. and then deleated the font from the directory on the unload cmd.... but it does "create it" when the dB loads!
