I never back up systems it just seems quicker to Re-program
to me.

My question is since a lot of you are into backing up

If you backup a system with a PRI and that system defaults and the SYSID changes for some reason.

When you do a re-store will that also re-store the SYSID?

Also if you take a backup of a SYSTEM with a PRI or just copper trunks and do a re-store on another SYSTEM with the same hardware configuration and software will the re-store work? PRI or NOT

It may be quicker to reprogram a five phone 'mom and pop' Norstar, but a 100 set Norstar with DID's I would rather do a restore, unless there is good reason to suspect a corrupt database. You will probably be ok with a restore as long as nothing has changed. You may have to manually enter the keycode again. I did see once, where, after a restore, 'hardware' showed PRI, but a new code was required for it to work, even though it accepted the original keycode. Why, I don't know. That is for a design guy with a propeller on his head. You can restore to another system IF everything is identical*, even the revision within a s/w level. Even in this case, you will need to generate keycodes for the Prime.

* with stuff like this, don't bet on anything working as planned; always plan for the worst and be glad when it works out ok.

I have a question? Anyone still using floppy disk? I have always saved a copy to my laptop then to floppy but only have one laptop left with a floppy drive. So what is the norm for most of you?

The only system requiring a floppy is the NAM's.
You dont need a laptop to back it up as it has a floppy drive built in.

Not much need for a floppy in laptop unless your creating patch disk etc but you could do that on any PC.

Best to have a 9 pin serial thought!

Best to start a new thread on this.
