I have IBM's xSeries 230 win2k Server with SCSI drives with RAID level 5. My existing C partition is going out of space.

I want to know 2 things:

1. I want to add another 30 GB SCSI hard disk into me RAID array, without disturbing my server performance?

If not then i will prefer to add this new HD in server but not into RAID array. Can I do this?

2. Is there is any way to save Domain Group policy. So that I can use it, if I reinstall server?

Ur early reply will greatly help me

Thanks

if you dont have any hot swap hardware the why dont yo just shut down the server for a momment, and add it like any other Hdrive, and the through win2k you do whatever you want with it. A+, MCP, CCNA

Keep fighting for your knowledge!

O.K., first, adding another HD to your array will not help your lack of space on the C drive, so it is not really relevant, but.....to add another drive, you would have to reconfigure the array and start from scratch.

I would ghost (Drive Image)the C drive and copy it to the 30 GB drive if it is bigger than the current C drive and then install it in the machine as the primary C drive.
You could then format the old C drive and re-install as extra storage, or.....keep it as a back up of the current configuration in case the upgrade doesn't quite work as planned....

In any case, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A VIABLE BACK UP BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY CHANGES !!!!! Kimber

The more I learn, the more I realize how much more there is to know!
