Basically, i have 200 different major codes that need to be changed to a different set of codes. 200 different update queries does not sound like the best way but I could do that. If that is the best way, then I would like to have them run automatically instead of running each individually? Any Ideas?

probably simple,

You need to create what I would call a cross-reference table, tblXRef, with two fields, OldCode and NewCode.

Create a query with the table that has the OldCode value in it, I will call this table tblOldCode, and tblXRef. Create a join between the two tables from the tblXRef OldCode field and the corresponding field in the tblOldCode by clicking on one and dragging to the other. Make the query an update query. Add the field from tblOldCode and one the update line enter [tblXref]![NewCode]. The join you created tell the query which data to use; basically, wherever the tblOldCode has an OldCode value, use the corresponding NewCode value from tblXref.

Hope this makes some sense.

Kathryn
