I just got a this dvd rom and it worked fine for like 2 days, then I bought a 30 gig hd and installed it and everytime I boot up I get an error message (Blue Screen of Death)with OE error reguarding CDVSD and CDVSD (voltrack)can anyone help me. I pretty sure its the dvd player cause when in un hook it I get no errors at all!!! I know this is vague but any help you can give will be appreciated I play on getting the exact error message and posting it in the future.

Is the dvd player set to slave? Is it on the same cable as the harddrive? If the player is not set to slave, then set it and try it out. Also make sure the drive is set to master.

fenris
fenris@hotmail.com

thanks for the info I got it to work but you were right it needed to be set to slave

I have a second issue now, I got the drive to work and it doesnt do that same crash anymore but when I run the dvd software and click any of the dvd menus it works sometime and it lock ups sometime (now error message to system hangs and the mouse locks). CTRL+ALT+DEL doesnt work
The movies will play but it locks if I try any of the menus. I use Power DVD to play the movies. I could be the software any suggestion as to way DVD veiwing software to use will be appreciated.
I would put the original CD-ROM on the first IDE port as a slave, then install
the DVD player on the secondary IDE port as a master by itself.

<a href= Computer Systems & Networking Services
Masterk, it sounds like a software problem. Is it the software that came with the DVD drive? If you go to some place like <A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> and search for dvd players you should be able download some other software and try it out to see if your software is at fault. You may also want to try shutting down all background programs like AV, backup programs etc. and then try your dvd out. As far as giving you suggestions as to what software to use, I really don't know. Try a few different ones, and pick the one that you like.

Good luck,
fenris
fenris@hotmail.com
