Hi,
I have a mdb database that I converted to a mde database. I now need to make changes to the mde database.
I converted my mdb database on May 21. I made a backup copy
before I converted the mdb.
All of my updated data are in the tables of the mde database.
My question is how do I update the tables in the May 21 mdb
database from the data stored in the mde db that I'm still using?
I don't know if I have asked them question correctly. Iwant to go back to my mdb db so I can make changes to the forms, but I also want the most updated table data that is
currently residing in the mde db.

I'm at a lost and would appreciate help in understanding
how I can accomplish this.

Thank you kindly.

I think I can help you.

#PRE If you are using Access/JET security, don't do the following, because deleting objects removes all security permissions set for the table.

1. Backup both files! Make copies of both databases and put the copies somewhere else.
2. Delete all of your tables in the MDB file, excluding the MSYS* tables.
3. Import all tables from the MDE file to the MDB, excluding the MSYS* tables.
4. Compile the MDB to create your new MDE.

I believe this will do it for you.

I am using Access 2000.
How do I tell which tables are MSYS tables. Also, can
you briefing describe how to import tables from the mde
to the mdb?

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Msys tables: go TOOLS+OPTIONS+VIEW System Objects. all the system tables begin with msys. dont delete them.

IMPORT = menu FILE+GET EXTERNAL DATA+IMPORT then browse to the mde

a big suggestion: split your db into front-end (forms, reports, etc) and back-end (tables only). then you can change the forms, reports etc and not have to worry about the tables. look up SPLITTING A DATABASE in Help or in this forum.

Your help has been a life-safer.

....Still learning.

Thank you kindly.
