I have a Sony loptop running Windows 98. I have a Linksys 4 ports switch. When I connect it to the switch I am not able to see my loptop in the network.

Thanks

Hello,

I am assuming as you have posted this in the Windows 2000 forum that the other machines in the network run Windows 2000.
Firstly, the workgroup name in Win98 must match that in the Windows 2000 machines, and the hostname must change.
The network protocol (usually TCP/IP) must be installed and have a unique address within the same subnet - and the subnet mask set as the same, if they are not set via DHCP.

Finally, Windows 98 won't show up in My Network places unless you have the file and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks installed - and at least one disk or printer shared - but it should be able to see everything else with just the client for Microsoft networks.
