I was updaing the Support Paqs for my Compaq ML 530's conected to a RA4100 SAN. I fixed the Node 1 that had a driver problem even after updating them, I had to revert back to the old driver. The 2nd node I did the same with the Support Paq. When I got it back up I had the same driver problems. I did what fixed my problem on node 1, I did an Online ROM paq and flashed the 431 Array Controller. Now after spending the afternoon with Compaq I have Windows 2000 startign to boot, but it hangs at the white progress bar after the boot menu. I even tried the CD to do a repair or going to recovery console to revert back to the registry backup. That even locks up at starting windows at the Windows Setup screen.

I see now my only option is blow away the logical drive and start from scratch, then use tape backup to restore my node.
IF that fails WHAT DO I DO? Evict the 2nd node and go through the whole MCSC wiz and SQL wiz. BIG note here the cluster is running SAP..the business. HELP and suggestions.

I seem to remember that being a problem with the way the RA4100 handles certain SCSI commands.

1. Shutdown both nodes.
2. Reset the RA4100
3. Startup the working node.
4. In lputilnt, find the ResetTPRLO value for the HBA and make sure it is set to 1
5. Start up the second node

Thanks I will try that, I figured out what was wrong with booting in windows and it locking up. When I talked to compaq they got me to redo the system config in the server bios, well for the OS they said choose windows 2000, well that wasn't an option. There was Linux, Other, Banyan Vines, Novell, Windows NT. They said choose OTHER, well I though to myself on the way to work the next day, why not choose Windows NT. 2000 is NT, I went in and chose Windows NT and a submenu came up and you could choose Windows 2000. That worked and I'm back inthe OS and I sorted out the event logs and got the correct drivers installed and all is working.
