I just bought an old Dell Optiplex P166 from our desktop shop at work, they are taking out the old and replacing them with newer pc's. Anyway, I have two questions:
1. What is the button sequence for accessing the BIOS setup at boot time? I need to tell it about an additional hard drive.
2. It came with a Dell/Trinitron D1526TX-HS Monitor, when I turn it on and power up the box, the monitor just goes into standby mode.
If I hit keys or move the mouse it doesn't help or anything. What's the problem with it?
Jon Zimmer
b0rg@pcgeek.net
<a href= Aetea Information Technology
The software required `Windows 95 or better', so I installed Linux.
I would think you need to get the monitor on before we can get you into the BIOS (should be Delete or F2 to enter the BIOS). Are there any beep error codes upon boot? This info would be very helpful.
Al
atc-computing@home.com

I got into the BIOS CTRL>ALT>ENTER got me a prompt asking me to push F1 to continue with boot or F2 to enter setup. I took the monitor back to work and had it replaced with one that did work. In the BIOS there is a password on the setup, so I can't access it to tell it about a harddrive I added. If I pull the battery out will that cause the BIOS to reset so that I can manipulate it?
Jon Zimmer
b0rg@pcgeek.net
<a href= Aetea Information Technology
The software required `Windows 95 or better', so I installed Linux.
Yes. The board may also have a CMOS reset jumper which will do the same thing.
Al
atc-computing@home.com
