In my last post I asked the best way to create a duel boot. I have done this now. (Oh boy, that’s a story in itself) - - Okay, now I have another question cos this is bugging me.

Picture the scene. – I created 2 partitions of 50% each. Example drive “C” has 20 gig and drive “D” has 20 gig. I loaded windows 98 SE first and did this on drive “C”. – I loaded win 2000 pro. next onto drive “D”.

When I boot the computer up, it ALWAYS gives me win 2000 as the top with 24 seconds to decide if I want this or to hit down arrow key for win 98.

Question: - - How do I reverse this so that win 98 is the top one?

Thanks in anticipation.

Okay as I recall you open Star/Run and type in C:\Boot.ini

You cannot manually browse for this file since it is completely hidden. Here you should be able to make adjustments to the Boot Selector.

Yes you want to change boot.ini from:-

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
C:\="Microsoft Windows"

to

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=C:[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
C:\="Microsoft Windows"

Wolluf: - You are brilliant my friend. - Going to give you 3 brownie points. Thank you. Did what you said and now it boots to windows 98. Also thanks to grenage.
