I got Ghost, how do I make the DVD bootable.

HI

As advised through my previous post I purchased Norton Ghost to back up my hard drive.

Now I have my C: drive backed up to my external hard drive.

I am having trouble making the disk with the .iso file bootable.

I am using Roxio Easy CD Creator 8 to create the disk.
When I open the Data Disk utility there is a button that says make disk bootable.

When I click on it, I am asked to choose whether I want to copy a file from Drive A: or my hard drive.

When I select my hard drive and hit the browse button it wants me to specify a file or files and location to be copied to the disk, an .img, bin or ima file.

I don’t know where I should look for this file, or which of these formats is the one that I need.

Can I just download the necessary file(s) someplace or is it specific to my computer in some way?

What you need to do is create a bootable floppy disk or you can download one from bootdisk.com (I used a Win98 disk) and using Roxio, create a bootable DVD from the floppy and add ghost.exe and your Ghost images to the DVD and thats all you need to do.

The problem is that I don't have a floppy Drive.
My computer boots to the DVD/CD rom drive.

And I need to have some kind of image file to create a bootable disk.

Any help appreciated.

Hi Mike,

Download a zipped bootdisk from

http://www.nerdlabs.org/bootdisks,

extract the files from the zip you download to a folder on your hard drive and just point to that folder. I have never used Roxio so I have no idea how it works but in Nero I just select that I want to make a bootable DVD it asks me for the files, I point to that folder, then drag over the Ghost images and ghost.exe, then boot to the DVD when you get a DOS prompt, just type ghost.exe and it should run. Good luck!
